2. go to the Tools menu and click on Internet Options.
3. select the Content Tab.
4. Click on Enable.
5. on the dialogue box, you can choose a rating standard. for each area, you can choose a level to which one can gain access. for sex, nudity, language and violence. select your choice, you can choose to allow a little bit of everything to not allowing anything of such content.

Don't lose program functionality after installing Windows up
THE UPDATE THAT MURDERED MY APPS
Without a doubt, the SP2 nightmare that's gotten the most press is this: After installing the update, some of the software that once worked fine on your PC simply doesn't function. Microsoft explains the problem by saying that SP2 is no normal service pack (just a collection of previous bug fixes) but is more like a top-to-bottom upgrade of XP. Analysts generally agree.
Actually, while the problem is bigger than Microsoft admits, it's not all doom and gloom. Microsoft Office still works fine after the update, and so does Intuit Quicken. In fact, probably 99 percent of software that runs on XP runs fine on XP SP2. Still, statistics won't make you feel any better when you fire up Ye Faithful Application and it chokes.
1. Take control of Outlook Express.
The new Outlook Express in SP2 doesn't let you receive attachments in some file formats, such as .exe and .scr, that have traditionally been used by worms and viruses to deliver their payloads. But this draconian measure also blocks legitimate transfers. To get back the ability to accept these files--of course, keeping in mind that you'll have to carefully consider each download to protect yourself--follow these steps:
In Outlook Express, click Tools/Options > Security.
Clear the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" box.
Click OK.
2. Tell Internet Explorer to shut up.
Tired of Windows asking if you're sure--really, really sure--if you want to run a downloaded file? You can nix this nightmare with a simple setting in Internet Explorer.
Windows now puts up an annoying warning when you try to run a file downloaded from a Web site if that file doesn't include a digital signature. This may be good for you--it could stop you from falling victim to a phishing scam or other Web-based attack--but if you are very, very careful and feel you know how to identify these threats yourself, you can do the following to stop the alerts:
In Internet Explorer, click Tools/Internet Options > Advanced.
Under Security, clear the "Check for signatures on downloaded programs" box.
Click OK.
3. Download like you used to.
After installing SP2, you'll have to actually click a link to start a download from Internet Explorer. That means the common download site technique of "Your download will start automatically in 10 seconds" no longer works. Instead, IE puts yet another warning, this time in what it calls the Information Bar (the section directly under the toolbars and above the browser display window), to tell you that you're doing something stupid. Although CNET's sister site Download.com has been tweaked to work smoothly with SP2, other major download destinations, such as tucows.com and majorgeek.com, haven't. To get back your dream of easy downloads, follow these steps:
In Internet Explorer, click Tools/Internet Options > Security.
Click the Internet icon, then the Custom Level button.
Under Downloads, check the radio button marked Enable under the heading "Automatic prompting for file downloads."
Click OK here and in the next dialog.
Tip: SHRINK PHOTOES FOR EMAIL
Whenever you e-mail a photo or post in on the Internet, you’ll want to reduce the file size because large digital images take a long time to view/download online in a browser. To reduce file size, you need to change the number of pixels in the image. This can be done in many free and easy image editing programs, including Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop Elements (shown below), and even Microsoft Office Picture Manager (available with Office 2003 and 2007).
Here’s how to do it:
First crop the image the way you want it. A width of 700 is a good target for e-mailing. Then use your software’s zoom tool to make it appear the size you want on the screen—maybe you prefer a small thumbnail, or maybe you want to fill the monitor. Either way, take note of the percentage size of the image. Then use your software’s “image size” tool to reduce it in pixels to that percentage. Important: Do not save over the original file. Save it in a “Web+email photos” folder designated for this purpose.

Remove shutdown from start menu and also from all other poss
Hi! remove shutdown from start menu and also from all other possible.
=> remove shutdown from start menu and also from all other possible options.
=> hide shutdown from start menu
=> disable shutdown all together Disable or remove shutdown - The Ethical Hacking learn to do it now!!! (it takes less than a minute to do so) Disclaimer: this is an article which just brings out the fact that removing the shut down menu option from the start menu is possible. If you however get caught by your manager or college system administrator, I cannot be held responsible. This tool is a inbuilt tool present in windows XP, just like msgconfig.
So yougot to execute this command using run.
1 . Start ->run and type gpedit.msc
The gpedit stands for group policy and you can do wonders using this. Also if you a minute with your pal’s system and this pal tries to flirt your girl friend- You can make a lot of changes to his system in the time he leaves you alone with his system, to have him go bonkers.
2. User configuration -> administrative Templates -> start menu and taskbar
3. This option opens up a pane on the right hand side. Identify the option named- Remove SHUT DOWN on the start menu .
4. Double click Remove SHUTDOWN on the start menu option
5. A small screen pops up and you may like to read about the explanation in the EXPLAIN TAB before you change the settings.
6. Just change the radio button TO ENABLED and say apply.
7. DONE. No need to log off or restart the system. (You may however have to find a way to restart your system.)
8. This option disables the log off option from the system. From the start menu, also from the life saver – three buttons CTRL - ALT - DEL options. This option goes well with the HIDING THE LOG OFF FROM START MENU… (To shut down ur system:-without using frm shut down menu) The solution is that u can switch user through task manager (alt+ctrl+del) or by pressing winkey+L where u get the option to turn off your compy/restart/stand by. or u may create a shortcut using this shortcut location to shutdown ur
sys %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s to restart, u can use this shortcut
%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -r
Enjoy!!!
Firefox Tricks
All these can be done in making the changes in configuration. You can go there by typing about:config in the url/navigator bar.
1. Open search results in a new Window : This is my favorite tweak, usually when you search in Firefox search bar, they will open in the same tab, but using this you can open them in a new tab.
generally this preference won't be present so you have to create a new one.
* Right click on the about:config
* select new boolean
* name it as browser.search.openintab
* set it to true
2. Increase the size of Tabs of Firefox : On default the tab size of every Firefox tab is 100 but you can change its maximum and minimum size. This registry is already present so it is easy.
- To set maximum size, go to the integer browser.tabs.tabClipWidth and set your own size
- To set minimum size, go to the integer browser.tabs.tabClipWidth and set your own size
3. Enable or disable Firefox suggesting the search words while you are typing in Firefox search bar.
- Go to browser.search.suggest.enabled and set it to true to enable and to false to disable it.
4. Enable or disable Firefox warning on closing the Firefox :
- Go to browser.tabs.warnOnClose and make it true to enable and false to disable it.
5. Enable or disable smooth scrolling in Firefox :
- Go to general.smoothScroll and make it true to enable and false to disable it.
6. Enable or disable auto scrolling in Firefox :
- Go to general.autoScroll and make it true to enable and false to disable it.
7. Enable or disable javascript in Firefox : This is one of the most important and useful firefox registry entry.
- Go to javascript.enabled and make it true to enable and false to disable it.
8. Decrease or increase delay in opening the download manager of Firefox:
- Go to browser.download.manager.openDelay and set the integer value in seconds, I give it zero as I don't want to have a delay in downloading.
9. Enable or disable opening of Bookmarks in a new tab in Firefox :
- Go to browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace and make it true to enable and false to
disable it.
10. Enable or disable automatic resizing of images in Firefox :
- Go to browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing and make it true to enable and
false to disable it. Enjoy!!!
